Size and Fit
PureFlex is 92% GOTS-certified organic cotton with 8% spandex. It stretches and recovers, but it behaves like cotton, not like a compression synthetic. Choose your true size.
Sizing down is the most common cause of sheerness. A smaller size puts more tension across the seat, and fabric under tension reads lighter in a deep squat or a forward hinge. If you are between sizes, take the larger one.
Shorts sit closer to the widest part of the thigh than leggings do, so the fit through the seat matters more here than the length does. Check the size guide measurements at your hip rather than going by the size you usually wear in shorts.
The high waist is designed to stay put through movement without a rigid compression band. Full measurements are in our Sizing Chart.

We had our bestselling leggings independently tested for PFAS by Applied Technical Services. Total fluorine, the limiting marker for the entire PFAS class, came back none detected at below 2 parts per million.
The report covers the main fabric of our organic cotton leggings, tested in October 2024, against a current industry threshold of 100 ppm. We publish the result rather than a blanket claim.
Why go the extra mile? PFAS are synthetic chemicals used to make fabrics stain and water-resistant, but they’re also known as “forever chemicals” because they persist in the environment and accumulate in our bodies. With PFAS linked to health risks, we made it our goal to guarantee skin-friendly comfort that eases your body and mind.
We use no DWR coatings and no fluorinated finishes anywhere in our line.

PuraKai aims to create eco-friendly, sustainable clothing that is both stylish and comfortable, using only natural fabrics that begin and end in the soil, avoiding the shedding of microplastics. We also actively support environmental initiatives and ocean conservation.
PuraKai garments are designed, cut, sewn, and finished in our own Los Angeles facility, with knitting and garment dyeing handled by Los Angeles partners. Our Texas-Grown All American line follows its own documented route: organic cotton grown in Texas, spun in North Carolina, knitted in South Carolina, and sewn in Georgia.
We primarily use organic cotton, hemp, merino wool, and lyocell. We started with cotton grown in California and have since expanded to using GOTS organic cotton from India and other natural fibers.
Our All American Project uses Texas-Grown organic cotton made in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, all within a 1,350 mile supply chain from seed to clothing.
To mitigate the environmental impact of microfiber shedding, PuraKai has committed to using only natural fibers that are biodegradable and integrate back into the soil at the end of their lifecycle, except for our activewear, which requires a small amount of spandex.
We have donated a portion of sales to environmental and ocean nonprofits every year since 2012, including organizations working on plastic pollution such as 5 Gyres.

Super stretchy, very comfy! A little short and I'm 5'2. These aren't quite safe for errands or anything other than hot yoga or pilates I'd say. You'd need more length for anything more. But I still really like them! Cute color, too.

Very comfortable and cute. They wear and wash well. They turned out to be a little short and ride up a little more than I like for biking but perfect for walking, running, gym work.
Love love love. I have been living in these shorts since I bought them! They're way better than any similar brands I've tried. The fabric is super soft, thick enough to feel supportive/not be see through but still breathable, and the fit of these is actually flattering which is hard to achieve with cotton. This is the closest I've seen cotton workout wear get to the sculpting/compression of synthetic fabrics. I'm 5'2, 110 pounds, waist fluctuates around 25-27 depending on the day (lol) and the xs fits me perfectly! I got the 3 inch inseam cause I like a shorter short – I do notice they roll up sometimes but I honestly don't care given how perfect everything else is. Also as a sewer, the construction of these is 10/10. They really nailed the seam style + placement. Excited to get try some more styles!

These are the softest cotton bike shorts and the fit is perfect! The pocket is big enough for my giant phone too lol I hope these come in more colors soon because I would definitely buy more!!
I love these shorts! They have a stash pocket which is essential. They are buttery soft and stretchy. I tried another brand, Mate, which is also organic cotton but Mate is not as stretchy or breathable as Purakai. These are a must have. They are made in the USA, which is amazing and very hard to find!

The 5 inch biker shorts are just what I’ve been looking for! If you want a more fitted feel or are in-between sizes I’d say size down in these. The pockets are wonderful and the fabric feels great.

I bought these specifically as maternity shorts, I sized WAY up to accommodate my belly and I was worried that the legs would be baggy but they're perfect- and still with a bit of belly growing room. Nice and stretchy while still feeling natural and breathable. For any other mommies to reference I'm 5'7" pre-pregnancy weight 160 and typically wore small and currently 190 and sized myself up to and xL (7 months along).
