Every pair of PuraKai leggings is made from our PureFlex fabric: 92% GOTS-certified organic cotton and 8% spandex, so natural fiber sits against your skin while the stretch keeps up with squats, yoga, and errands. We had the fabric independently tested for PFAS, and every pair is knit, cut, sewn, and dyed in Los Angeles, California.

Organic cotton leggings FAQ

Are these 100% cotton leggings?
They're 92% certified organic cotton and 8% spandex. We blend in just enough spandex for stretch and recovery; 100% cotton leggings bag out at the knees and lose shape. The fiber against your skin is organic cotton.

Have these been tested for PFAS?
Yes. Our organic cotton leggings fabric is PFAS-free. In October 2024 an independent testing laboratory, Applied Technical Services, screened our organic cotton leggings fabric for total fluorine, the limiting marker for the entire PFAS class. The result was none detected, below 2 parts per million, against a current industry threshold of 100 ppm (ATS report 435623). Mamavation's September 2026 activewear study found non-detect total fluorine in our leggings. Read the lab report. The fabric is also GOTS-certified, which restricts harmful processing chemistry, and we use no DWR coatings or fluorinated finishes.

Where are they made?
Every pair is knit, cut, sewn, and dyed in Los Angeles, California. PuraKai is a licensed California garment manufacturer, registration GA-LR-1001309619. Our organic cotton is grown in Texas, Turkey, and India.

Do any styles have pockets?
Yes. The PureFlex High-Waist Pocket Leggings have deep side pockets that hold a phone securely through a full workout.

How do they fit and how should I care for them?
True to size with a soft, close feel rather than rigid compression. Choose your true size. If you're between sizes, size up for the best coverage. Machine wash cold, hang or tumble dry low. Organic cotton gets softer with every wash and our fabric is pre-shrunk.

Are cotton leggings good for working out?
Yes. Cotton breathes better than polyester and holds dramatically less odor. For hot yoga or very heavy-sweat sessions, cotton absorbs moisture rather than moving it, so it can feel damper than a synthetic wicking fabric.
